Fredrick Earl Mosley, together with Dudley Williams, Clifton Brown, Matthew Rushing, and Brian Harlan Brooks, created Hearts of Men as a safe space where men and nonbinary/gender-nonconforming individuals could come together to share life experiences through the power of movement.
As the late, great Dudley Williams, a dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, said about this uplifting program, “I can’t explain it, you just have to feel it and see it, but it’s extraordinary.”
Hearts of Men creates a space for participants to build together while forging life-long, healthy, and supportive relationships as a dance community. We highly encourage families and friends to participate together—the program is open to men and nonbinary/gender-nonconforming individuals ages 13 and up of any dance level. This unique opportunity allows participants of all ages and from all walks of life to experience the transformative power of dance and performance. Hearts of Men brings us together in joy, creativity, and love, showcasing how movement can foster unity and community.

Join us at the Ailey Citigroup Theater on Sunday, September 1st at 2 PM and 6 PM for the culminating performances of Hearts of Men, in partnership with Ailey Extension! Witness our program participants perform in choreography set by workshop choreographers Clifton Brown, Patrick Coker, and Avree Walker alongside works from guest choreographers Nick Alselmo, Justin Bowen, Winston Dynamite Brown, Juan Carlos Franquiz II, Sharron Jones, Abdul Latif, Jeremy Pichardo, and Robert Redick! The performance will also feature repertory created by Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance founder and artistic director Fredrick Earl Mosley, including the iconic Hearts of Men staple, “Breaths”, set to “Pass Me Not” by Eddie James, and archived footage of “Never Dreamed”, a solo set on the late Dudley Williams.
